“Honey, I Got the Winning Ticket!”

Stu MacDonald purchased his winning lottery ticket as he always did before every draw. This ritual has always been preceded by his wife, telling him to get the winning ticket. On September 7 she didn’t say anything, but McDonald still went out and got the winning ticket. He picked the following quick-pick numbers: 12-13-16-35-36-54.

After taxes, MacDonald and his wife are taking the lump sum of $1.56 million, still a big enough sum to match his statement for the Oregon Lottery press release.

What are the Odds of Winning the Lottery?

Many people dream of buying the winning lottery ticket. The real question is what the chances of that happening are. Here’s a quick overview of the odds of winning the main lottery prizes.

  • Winning the Oregon Lottery jackpot would require one to beat the odds of 1 in 12,271,512.
  • The Powerball, which was once thought of as the least likely jackpot, is now second in place. The odds of hitting the main prize are set at 1 in 292,201,388.
  • Currently, the toughest attainable lottery jackpot is the Mega Millions prize, seeing players face odds of 1 in 302,575,350.

These are some challenging numbers that could put lottery daydreams to rest. However, the main thing to remember is to have fun while choosing your lottery numbers and who knows, you might just come home with the winning ticket one day.
