The Cromwell Improves Blackjack and Roulette OddsThe Cromwell was already known as the best Caesars Entertainment property on the Las Vegas Strip for gambling. Now it’s even better.

The Cromwell announced that it was rolling out more blackjack tables in Las Vegas with good rules this week. A press release also stated that single zero roulette was now spread at the Las Vegas Strip casino. I headed down to The Cromwell on Thursday night to check out the casino’s new games.

New 3-2 Blackjack Tables

I discovered that the press release accurately described the conditions. The Cromwell now has over 20 3-2 blackjack tables on its floor. This includes the entire front table game pit. The handful of 6-5 tables left in the back of the casino floor were not open during my visit. All real money blackjack spread Thursday night paid 3-2.

I found $10 eight-deck shoes that pay 3-2 on blackjack, permit double down before and after splitting, and offer surrender. There were $15 double deck tables that paid 3-2 and permit double down before but not after splitting. These games both hit soft 17. The usual $100 six-deck shoe was still available in the high limit salon. This game stands on all 17’s with double down and surrender.

Cromwell Single Zero Roulette

I found one single zero roulette table. It had a $25 minimum bet. The chips played as $5. This is the first time in at least two years that I’ve seen a $25 single zero roulette table anywhere in Las Vegas. It would be hard to find one for $50 these days. You’d probably have to bet $100 for single zero roulette in Las Vegas unless you hit one of the higher end MGMs at a dead hour.

The single zero roulette game does not offer la partage. This is where even money bets only lose half when the ball lands on zero. This rule is offered in the higher limit games at MGM properties but it comes with a higher minimum bet.

The Cromwell still has a few double zero roulette tables. These have a $10 minimum with $1 chips. There is also EZ Baccarat, which is where the commission on banker wins is eliminated from the game and replaced with an additional push possibility.

Other Quality Gambling at The Cromwell

The craps tables at The Cromwell still offer 100 times odds. These have a $10 minimum bet and a cap of $5,000 on odds.

The Cromwell offers the best $.25 video poker on the Las Vegas Strip. The highest return-to-player game is Not-So-Ugly-Deuces (99.73%). Full pay Triple Double Bonus (99.58%), 9/6 Jacks or Better (99.54%), Bonus Deuces Wild (99.45%) and 18/7/5 Joker Poker (99.29%) are among the games returning over 99%.

These machines are located near the southwest entrance by the craps tables. There is a video display advertising these high returns above the bank of six machines. Note that these machines do not pay full Total Rewards points.

The Cromwell opened a sportsbook this week. This is the first time that the property has had one since the days it was known as Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall. There is also a new high limit slot area.

Support Cromwell’s Decision to Improve Gaming

If you gamble on the Las Vegas Strip, consider giving action to The Cromwell. Make sure to let the casino management know that the good odds are part of the reason you chose The Cromwell so that they know that it is working.

Using the Total Rewards card could trigger comp offers. Even low limit action could be rewarded with free or discounted hotel rooms at neighboring Caesars properties if you play long enough.

Improving Odds Not Always Supported by Players

Riviera and Binion’s have tried improving games in the past to attract gamblers. These experiments included single zero roulette and 3-2 single deck blackjack. Neither casino was successful. Part of the reason seemed to be a lack of marketing. Hopefully, The Cromwell will be able to get the word out that they have some of the best low limit gambling on the Las Vegas Strip.

Treasure Island is the only Las Vegas Strip casino that spreads better low limit blackjack action. No other casino on the Strip offers $.25 video poker with The Cromwell’s pay tables.
