The Gambling Industry Promoting World Health
Since the appearance of Covid-19 in 2020, gaming industry leaders have worked to support health and relief efforts worldwide. Their financial contributions to humanitarian foundations and hospitals have helped protect children, the elderly, and healthcare workers in some of the poorest and most heavily infected nations.
They support hospitals, transfusion centers, medical centers, safe houses, gerontology centers, health foundations, and social welfare NGOs worldwide. CCP Games CEO Hilmar V. Petursson explained why they started the Covid-19 Solidarity Response fund:
We now face an unprecedented global challenge for all humankind. Given the global nature of EVE and the solidarity of the EVE community, we are activating PLEX for GOOD again to begin on 3 April 2020 to raise funds for the Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund. It is time to unite once more and help fight this unprecedented worldwide health challenge.
