In Pennsylvania, a major gambling expansion is underway. The state passed a gaming package last year that will result in online casino and poker gaming as well as satellite casinos.
While online gaming is slow to come to fruition, the state’s land-based venues are getting busy setting up their satellite casinos. Mount Airy Casino is one of the operators in the state that was granted a license to create a Category 4 gaming facility. The brand has now announced their location with an anticipated opening date of late 2019.
So What’s New With Mount Airy Casino?
On Monday, Mount Airy Casino announced they will be creating their mini casino in Beaver County near Ellwood City. The facility will be located near the junction of the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Interstate 376. Named the Mount Airy Pittsburgh Casino Resort, the gaming facility will open by the end of next year.
Mount Airy was able to win a mini casino license earlier in the year. Mount Airy Casino Resort in the Poconos owner and managing trustee, Lisa DeNaples, commented that the development will be the start of building something ‘truly special for the tri-state area’.
DeNaples explained that the casino will not be just a gaming venue, but a destination that will raise industry-wide standards and expectations. The new venue is expected to bring as many as 700 jobs to the region.
Once the first phase of adding the casino is complete, the project will begin a second phase, which will include adding a resort hotel and a convention center, along with a restaurant, swimming pool, salon and spa as well as other amenities.
Mount Airy will be the first of those who earned licensing for a mini-casino to break ground on the project.
