In an effort to be the first company through the doors, GameCo, Inc. has submitted its application with the Division of Gaming Enforcement in New Jersey. They are the creators of the first skill-based casino video gambling machines (VGM™) and are trying to become the first providers of these games to the Atlantic City locations; as well as the other Jersey locations if the bill passes. This comes after the state gambling regulators published temporary skill-based rules, which closely resemble those used in Nevada. It is more than likely that the rules will become permanent, allowing GameCo and other companies to start providing their games.
Move to Attract Newer Generations
With the older slot machines on the casino floors not attracting enough players, the revenue has been hit hard, not only in New Jersey. This is why game developers decided to create more innovative and entertaining machines that would bring in the younger crowd. This is exactly what GameCo is bringing to the table, and they are going to start in New Jersey. With a dying economy, Atlantic City desperately needs something to help them bring gamblers back through their doors.
We have seen how popular and effective it is to have online casinos, as their revenue continues increasing while the brick-and-mortar locations are having a rough time. This deal would give them the necessary tools to get back in shape.
GameCo Video Game Gambling Machines
This fresh company is taking their experience with video games and applying it to casinos, giving them gambling machines (VGM™) that will attract Gen X and Millennial players. This is a huge opportunity, as CEO of GameCo, Blaine Graboyes stated,
“We are excited to launch our VGM in New Jersey casinos this year. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement has been extremely supportive of our endeavor to attract the next generation of gamers to the casino floor. We are confident the VGM will provide Gen X and Millennial gamers with an engaging opportunity to gamble playing video games at the casino.”
Their games come in a wide variety of genres that can be played in single-player or multiplayer and adhere to all of the standards needed. Some of these genres include:
- First Person Shooters
- Sports
- Racing
- Fighting Games
- Platformers
- Puzzle Games
The positive aspect of these games is that in order for a player to win, they must rely on their own skill. This removes the randomness out of the game, allowing the player to be more engaged, and actually have an impact on the outcome. These skill-based games will certainly bring new life back into the New Jersey casinos and will spread throughout the rest of the United States and the world.
