Blackjack conditions on the south end of the Las Vegas Strip continue to deteriorate. There are now only three casinos that spread a 3-2 blackjack game under $25 on this part of Las Vegas Blvd. Tropicana, Excalibur and New York New York combine to offer just four of those tables. Every other blackjack table under $25 south of Harmon Avenue – Aria, Monte Carlo, MGM Grand, New York New York, Excalibur, Tropicana, Luxor and Mandalay Bay – pay just 6-5 on a blackjack. Tropicana is the only one of these casinos that is not owned by MGM Resorts.
This also applies to video blackjack games. Some machines at Monte Carlo and Excalibur only pay even money on a blackjack.
I suggested low limit players choose Free Bet Blackjack as opposed to 6-5 tables because that would but the house edge in half. I no longer recommend this. All Free Bet Blackjack tables in this part of the Las Vegas Strip now pay 6-5. The house edge at the game is 2.4%.
