My Opinion on CoolCat Casino – Key Findings

There is a foul odor coming out of the CoolCat alley that should keep the most discerning online casino players away.

They don’t deliver as advertised with their bonus requirements, and their customer support information doesn’t agree. Having games from a reliable software provider just isn’t enough.

If you want to explore titles from RealTime Gaming, go to CoolCat Casino and try them for free, or even put a minimum amount in and see if you hit a pot.

Me? I won’t put in another dime for a while.

What I Loved

  • RealTime games are bright and fun to play.
  • Mobile play works fast and easy.
  • CoolCat has been around since 2002, and that says something.

Room for Improvement

  • Having just one game supplier leaves gaps in some game categories.
  • The bonus requirements are clouded by varying info on the site.
  • Customer support doesn’t seem to know accurate details of the site’s bonus offers.
  • The rules and verification procedures make cashouts awkward to tackle.

My Gambling Session Details

I started playing at CoolCat with a $21 balance after depositing with Litecoin, my third option. I had considered a credit card deposit before seeing the casino’s cumbersome ID procedure.

Bitcoin carried a ridiculous network fee, so I turned to Litecoin. It took just under 15 minutes for the money to appear in my CoolCat Casino account balance.

The $30 minimum deposit on bonuses exempted me from that option. I wouldn’t have gone for one anyway because the playthrough amounts were unclear.

I like to gamble on higher RTP games, so I started at CoolCat with video poker. Their paytables are not quite full pay but close enough to play strategy and get by.

I followed strategy and put down 25 cents per hand with Deuces Wild, playing the total of five coins. I lost $1.25 over 25 hands.

I know Jacks or Better strategy, too, so I went there, made the same bets and lost another 75 cents in 25 hands.

My balance was $18 going into my favorite casino game, blackjack. I balked when I saw the minimum bet on the basic game was $4, four times higher than at most online casinos.

I took a chance anyway, and it took 10 deals playing basic strategy for me to raise the white flag. My bankroll was down to a measly $5.

From there, I mostly played low-level wagers on slots. I started with Caesar’s Empire. It was in a favorable mood, so my 25 spins of 20 cents each got my balance up to $6.

Then it was off to Santa’s Reel Wheel but suffered another $1 loss. After that, I went to Fish Catch and sunk another $2.

Back to slots, I went to Wonder Wheels, which I had never played before. My first try got hung spinning, and I waited a couple of minutes for a result before clicking out.

The 777 Classic Vegas slot appealed to me because three-reelers sometimes pay well. I ended up spinning away the rest of my bankroll in 24 tries at 25 cents each.

To sum up, I dropped $21 over fewer than 150 deals and spins and a couple of rounds of Fish Catch.

That’s far worse than I have fared in similar two-hour sessions at other online casinos.

Needless to say, I did not withdraw money. I was broke. The $4 blackjack game was my doom and my latest lesson in bankroll management.

My only winning game was Caesar’s Empire slot. Hail Caesar!

Internet forums and review sites harbor the worst complaints, warnings, and ugly truths about almost anything. Online casinos make ripe targets, and CoolCat has its share of criticism.

Any operation as old as this site has a history. Their earlier years were haunted by complaints about delays and failure to make payouts.

Ask Gamblers blacklisted CoolCat until 2016 and ceased taking comments after 2020.

Other rating sites and readers still give them the cold shoulder. I’m relaying these comments from the first six months of 2024.

Trustpilot contained seven reviewers who gave an average of 2.3 of 5 stars.

Here are some of the opinions from other players I found.

No Payouts and Poor Customer Support

“Stay away from this casino, they don’t pay out any winnings, they blocked my account when I was trying to withdraw with no explanation.

They don’t respond to any emails either, still waiting for a response from back last year.”

Adam (Trustpilot – 1 star)

Waste of Time! Cashout Process Is a Hassle

“I feel like this is another casino where I just go to waste time. Their withdrawal process is hell.”

Duniadaisy (Casino Guru – 1 star)

Helpful Site for Beginners

“This was the very first casino I ever played online at! They helped me gain an understanding of how everything worked and what wagering requirement/playthrough meant!

Overall they are pretty average casino, but I appreciate them nonetheless.”

Colleen Gauthun (Casino Guru – 4 stars)

My Reflections on CoolCat’s Reputation

Overall, the ratings were not kind. The Trustpilot sampling was low, but I went to another solid casino reviewer whose 433 voters gave CoolCat a 0.7/5, and the score was 2.9/5 at yet another.

Withdrawal problems seem to come up in multiple testimonials from reviewers and customers, so it is likely a real thing.

I think CoolCat apparently pays at some point, or the site would not have done business for so long.

But their verification rules on payouts are extensive enough to allow them to hold out for longer than the 7-10 days they advertise.

Myths Busted About CoolCat

Here are common player claims about this casino that I want to debunk.

Myth #1 – Games Are Rigged

A common complaint I’ve seen is that their games are rigged, which is simply not true.

CoolCat Casino hosts games from RealTime Gaming, which reviews for fairness through the independent firm Technical Systems Testing.

Myth #2 – The Casino Is Not Safe

I saw a couple of threads with questions about the site’s legitimacy, but there are no testimonials or reports about data or money being compromised.

CoolCat Casino employs 128-bit encryption technology to keep funds and personal information as safe as a bank site.

2.0

CoolCat Casino bonuses seem alluring and generous on the surface. However, too many things are wrong with how they are presented and promoted

First, the playthrough requirements on the displayed offers differed from what I received from customer support and the casino’s bonus terms.

For instance, the 200% matching welcome bonus advertises a 5 times playthrough, which would be the most fair casino bonus requirement I have ever seen.

But, when I went to the bonus terms, I saw 30x as the standard rollover, which still isn’t bad.

The discrepancy was too much, so I checked with chat support. I learned from them that the playthrough is 40x, and that’s for the deposit plus bonus amounts and winnings from free spins.

That makes it one of the worst deals in bonus land. You can wager up to $10 per spin to clear the playthrough.

Then, there are the games you can and can’t play with a bonus.

It’s best to stick with slots and keno here, though CoolCat has an All Allowed Games bonus that supposedly opens you up to everything but baccarat, craps, Pai Gow Poker, Pontoon 21, roulette, Sic Bo, and War.

But, the bonus terms tack on a 60x playthrough requirement for table games and video poker.

Reading further, I found that bonus players are prohibited from the Banana Jones board game, Fish Catch skill game, live dealer games, and progressive jackpots.

The bonuses are sticky, meaning you can bet with the bonus money but not withdraw it.

For instance, if the match to your deposit gives you $100 in extra funds, $100 will be deducted from your account when you withdraw money. This is fairly common, and CoolCat Casino terms make it clear.

Bonuses Worth a Look

Only two bonuses from CoolCat Casino stand out for me. Keep in mind that I got vague/inaccurate info, but they still may be worth a shot.

Here are my picks.

Bonus #1 – Daily Free Spins

CoolCat Daily Free Spins

Each day, CoolCat Casino gives out 21 free spins for a specific game. The deal applies if you have deposited $30 within the previous seven days.

I got different rollover rates from two different support people – 20x and 30x on winnings. But it is not a bonus match, and it can be used each day, so you might try it, especially if you like the game.

Bonus #2 – No Rules Bonus

CoolCat No Rules Bonus

This one was up one day while I was visiting and applied to the Buffalo Mania Deluxe slot.

It offered a 250% match of a $50 or more deposit with no playthrough requirement. You won’t see it every day, but it is the sort of bonus to watch for.

It will likely come with a bonus code; BUFFALOSLUCK was the code I saw.

My Perspective on CoolCat Casino’s Bonuses

Unfortunately, after my research and analysis of the terms and conditions, I cannot recommend most of their bonuses.

The information on playthrough requirements does not match what is advertised, what the T&C says, and what customer support provides.

They need to get their act together.

The whole CoolCat Casino bonus situation seemed smellier than a litter box, so I would steer clear of any bonus, even if I had deposited more than the $30 minimum the bonuses require.

Other Bonuses I Reviewed

Here are other casino bonuses that I checked out while writing this review. The table lists 40x playthroughs, the highest figure among those I got.

200% Match + 50 Free Spins Welcome Bonus 40x WELCOME200

3.0

CoolCat Casino hosts a limited number of games by today’s standards. The site refers to a library of more than 200, but I counted 175 upon my visit.

Most of the game categories are covered, so I didn’t feel slighted or wanting for something to play.

CoolCat Casino games are supplied exclusively by RealTime Gaming, a software provider that has some fun and innovative stuff, plus a 25-year reputation for top selections.

With the exception of a few slow loads, my playtime was good.

The wagering limits for blackjack are a bit steep – $4 minimum for the digital games and $10 for the live dealer games.

On the other hand, you can play games for free and experiment all you want. You’ll find instructions with the games, but RealTime has a bad habit of not listing RTPs.

My Top Game Picks

Below are some of my favorite games I played during my session at CoolCat Casino.

Deuces Wild

Three 2s Deuces Wild Video Poker Logo

Video poker has been one of my favorite games for a long time, but with deuces as a wildcard, it becomes even more fun.

This is probably the highest-yielding game in the house, though it may take more hands before a good strike like four-of-a-kind.

I really like the per-coin setup because it allows you to bet as little as a nickel or as much as $25 in total.

Jacks or Better

Jacks or Better Video Poker Logo

I love Jacks or Better because of its simplicity and RTP. To play, you need only a basic knowledge of poker hands.

The paytable at CoolCat is close to full-pay, so you’ll get a 98.45% return if you play with strategy.

Jacks or Better also offers more hits than other video poker variations.

Blackjack

New Blackjack Game Logo

The minimum wagers are high at CoolCat, but classic blackjack is still a good choice.

The game is easy to play and oriented to a simple strategy that pays in the long run.

Caesar’s Empire slot

Caesar's Empire Slot Logo

This game was one of RealTime’s early releases, and it is still out there paying.

I like that the Caesar wild card can appear on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th reels during the regular game.

Also, If the special card is part of a winning combination, it will triple the prize you earn.

It was my only winning game while testing this site, and I’ve had more success with it than any slot.

Fish Catch

Fish Catch Specialty Game Logo

This is one of the few skill-based shooting games you’ll find at online casinos. It takes practice to get good, but I enjoy the learning.

I lost a couple of bucks this time, but the game was fun to play.

Here’s more detail about the types of games at CoolCat Casino.

SLOTS

Playing Caesar’s Empire

Some of the most popular titles are among RealTime’s 141 online slots at CoolCat Casino.

That’s less than most of the sites I have reviewed lately, but it’s still ok for most players.

Over the past two decades, slot players have become familiar with games like Aztec’s Treasure, Bubble Bubble, Cash Bandits, and the series spawned by their popularity.

Most games are conventional 3-wheel or 5-wheel displays with a wide variety of paylines.

But setups like Pulsar and Cubee are more offbeat and still fun.

I played Caesar’s Empire, Santa’s Reel Wheel, Wonder Wheels, and 777, and despite the losses, I had a good time.

Slots are the best bet for playing out your bonus requirements because they offer full credit toward the playthrough.

However, bonus players cannot play progressive jackpots and be paid according to casino rules.

CoolCat – 141
100 500 1000+

CoolCat vs Other Casinos – Number of Slots

Blackjack

Playing Blackjack

There are only three blackjack games at CoolCat Casino besides the five on the live dealer side.

That’s very few by comparison, but they cover the most popular variations.

There is a standard game with a standard 3:2 payout for blackjack and 2:1 for insurance.

Then, there are two side bet games that award bonus payouts for pairs or suited cards. Suit ‘em Up Blackjack pays bonuses of 2:1 for suited cards, 3:1 for suited 11, 5:1 for suited pair, 10:1 for suited blackjack, and 60:1 for suited aces.

Perfect Pairs Blackjack pays 6:1 for a mixed pair, 12:1 for a colored pair, and 25:1 for a perfect pair.

Playing bonus bets considerably lowers your returns over the long run, no matter how many decks are used.

All blackjack games have minimum bets of $4, while similar versions at other sites cost just $1.

The maximums are $500. I played the basic game using strategy and had to bail after 10 deals when my bankroll got too low. The game played well, though.

Blackjack is not a game for bonus playthroughs. The way CoolCat sets it up, your blackjack rollover is 60x.

Roulette

Testing European Roulette

CoolCat Casino has only one roulette choice among its digital games.

But it’s the European game, which offers slightly better returns because it has only the single zero.

The game provides the standard betting options plus the voisins, orphans, and tiers French wagers.

The bets range from $1 to $400 for inside or numbers bets and $1-$500 for outside bets.

I played it and found it loads quickly and plays smoothly.

Playing with a smartphone can be tricky; the game adjusts for horizontal play, but the French wagers were partially hidden on my screen.

Roulette is another game that would charge a 60x playthrough on a bonus requirement.

Other Table Games

Testing Akbar Romeo Walter

CoolCat has seven other card games to round out their table games collection.

They include a basic baccarat game with standard payouts.

The bet amounts range from $4 to $500, which was a little high for me when I was playing, but I generally like to bet Banker and hope for a good run.

I discovered the bet limits were the same for the remaining card games.

Most of the remaining table games are card guessing games in which you wager on ranges of card ranks with varied odds.

Akbar Romeo Walter is the newest of these, and it offers 12:1 for A-6, 15:1 for 7-10, and 15:1 for face cards.

The rest of the games are variations in which you have choices between even odds and payouts as high as 119:1.

Asian favorites Teen Patti and Andar Bahar are among the games, and there is also Tri Card Poker.

VIDEO POKER

Playing Jacks or Better

Video poker players have a healthy collection of 15 choices, all coin-based, with betting ranges of 5 cents to $25.

Most of the games have established strategies with paytables that are slightly short of full pay, which offers the best odds you can get.

Even without full-pay games, you can still play these to an RTP at 99% or better.

The games include basic Jacks or Better, Deuces Wild, and various other wild card games.

There is also Pick ‘em Poker, which shows only four cards and allows you to pick one of two top cards on stacks of three to reveal a full five-card hand.

Bonus and double bonus games are available with extra bonus payouts for different combinations of four of a kind.

I chose to play Jacks or Better and Deuces Wild because I’m familiar with the strategies for those. I played practically to the RTP rating on both, meaning I lost very little.

Video poker is a game that is not recommended for playing with a bonus because the playthrough is 60x.

Casual Games – Specialty Games

Testing Banana Jones

CoolCat Casino does not have a specialty games heading in its menu, so you must manually search for them.

However, the site has only three games that would belong there: keno, Banana Jones, and Fish Catch

The keno is a typical 80-number game in which 20 numbers are drawn, and you can choose up to 15 numbers. If you hit all 15 numbers, the maximum win can be up to $250,000.

A payout for a 5 spot is 2x your wager for 3 hits, 13x for 4 hits, and 800x for all 5. A quick pick automatically draws 10 numbers, and the payouts range from 2x for 5 hits to 100,000x for hitting all 10.

You can wager from a penny to $10.

Keno is the only non-slots game that awards 100% on your bonus playthrough,

Banana Jones is a cute board game with a monkey of the same name moving through a game board and into various rewarding adventures.

You can wager from 2 cents to $5 per five dice rolls to get Banana through the board and into a treasure cave. The maximum win is 2,565x your wager. Banana Jones is prohibited for bonus players.

Fish Catch is a shooting game that requires skill to hit targets that pay the most for the ammunition you use. You pay from 1 cent to $2.50 to enter a game and choose 1x to 10x-powered guns to target fish of varied value.

The game has all sorts of neat options and a target as high as $100. It’s a high enough RTP game to be off-limits to bonus players.

I have played all these specialty games with mixed success, but I like the Fish Catch for the skill involved and the choices offered.

Live Dealer Games

Trying Live Dealer Roulette

CoolCat’s live dealer games consist of 15 panels of blackjack, roulette, and baccarat. I did not play at a live dealer table but peeked in on a few games to check out the setup.

Most of the games convey the atmosphere of a real casino, with background noise and all.

The dealers seemed polite and involved with players who could use a chat function. The screen options are easy to figure out, but each game has rules and instructions.

Live dealer games are off-limits to bonus players.

As blackjack is the most popular casino table game, there were plenty of players gathered at those tables and lots of lively chat.

Even the full seven-player tables allow others to bet behind, so something is always available.

The dealers appear to shuffle frequently enough to discourage card counting. The bets start at $10 to $500 tables and go up to $50-$2,500 tables.

The four roulette tables include the single and double-zero versions, offering routine betting options.

The tables with the lowest bet ranges are $1 to $100, with $5 minimums for betting outside the numbers.

The top-end tables are $5-$5,000 with $50 minimums on outside bets.

Then, there are two baccarat tables allowing wagers as low as $5 and as high as $5,000. You can wager from $5 to $1,000 on the side-bet version of baccarat called Super 6.

The bonus bet is for pairs that pay up to 25:1.

There are 11 ways to deposit at CoolCat Casino and 4 ways to get paid.

That’s the case at most casinos, but I noticed that there are fees on card deposits and all types of withdrawals. And the banking methods are somewhat inconsistent.

They encourage Litecoin deposits, but to withdraw with Litecoin, you have to be a member of the Coindraw crypto payment service.

Deposit Options Summary

CoolCat Casino accommodates deposit options that align with most online casinos, including popular credit cards and cryptocurrencies.

They also accept deposits through Changelly, and VIP players have an additional option: a Players Rewards Card.

I considered depositing with a credit card, but CoolCat Casino extends the process; the terms note that a credit card deposit  “requires an authorization form along with a front copy of the credit card.

Plus, they add a 10% fee. So, I turned to Bitcoin and ran into a $49 network fee for a $20 transaction!

I had never encountered such a ridiculous fee with BTC, so I assumed it was because of the high blockchain volume at the time.

Because of fees and the credit card process they use, I found that Litecoin served me best. And that’s the method CoolCat promotes through its bonuses.

That worked OK; the money was in my account within the 15 minutes the site promised when I filled in the key code.

CoolCat Vs Other Casinos – Deposit Methods

Withdrawal Options Summary

CoolCat Casino offers four withdrawal options, Bitcoin, bank transfer, check payment, and the cryptocurrency transaction service Coindraw.

  • Is Verification Required? Yes – photo images proving ID and residence

Like many online casinos, CoolCat requires more time and effort to withdraw than to deposit. You will be prompted for ID verification through HooYu, a service that requires document images that prove you are who you say you are.

I did not test this, but the service states that it needs “location, facial, and document images.”

The Coindraw crypto service is supposed to be faster than normal crypto withdrawals, but you have to be a Coindraw member, and becoming a member would require an extra step. Plus, the casino will still require up to seven days to process the request.

According to the support people, the fee structure is based on the amount. They told me, for example, that there would be no fee for a Bitcoin withdrawal of $100 or less, and the $40 fee would apply to payouts of over $1,000.

CoolCat Vs Other Casinos – Withdrawal Methods

2.0

There are two routes to customer support at CoolCat Casino: e-mail and chat, with a bubble on each page. Here are the details of each channel.

  • Support Email Address: [email protected]
  • Languages: English
  • Live Chat: Yes. Human agents
  • Phone Number: N/A
  • Response Time: Varies

Here’s How I Tested

If you need quick answers, the FAQ section has 50 questions divided into four categories. The explanations there are sometimes vague or misleading.

Their casino blog is full of stuff but not that informative or in-depth.

Here are more details about my personal experience with CoolCat’s support.

Chat

I had a few chat sessions and often ended up more confused than when I entered.

As I explained in the bonuses section, most of the confusion was about requirements.

I was excited about a 5x rollover for the welcome bonus, but the chat guy said it was 40x, which disagreed with the 30x standard playthrough in the terms.

Email

You can reach them at [email protected], but I won’t recommend going this route if you need quick answers.

I did not receive a response by e-mail in a week, and the site does not guarantee a response time.

I guess they answer at some point, but this is the channel to use for more detailed questions that might require documented responses.

My Opinion of CoolCat’s Support

Customer support was little help. Most casinos are better about clarifying bonuses and other info, where CoolCat falls short.

The staff seems to want to sell various bonuses rather than provide accurate information.

The support people tried to sell me on a new bonus every time I called up chat, and my message box had several offers, all with vague requirements.

The speed of the chat response varied. The first time, they answered quickly. The second time, they took a couple of minutes to verify my account.

When I used the chat during the PM Eastern, they put me in a queue and gave me a mini-game to play. I was beginning to master the game when they got back to me in about 10′.

Overall, I don’t see much coordination between the marketed info, the Terms & Conditions, and the customer support. It’s like they make up things as they go.

CoolCat Vs Other Casinos – Customer Service

3.5
CoolCat Casino User Experience

The design at CoolCat Casino is simple but effective. It is easy to navigate because the site uses the template you see at many RTG casinos.

The games are arranged in categories you can click from a left-side menu. But with fewer games, a player can get a gist of their collection in a few minutes of scrolling.

You can search by title or even by theme. I didn’t find everything situated exactly right, though.

There is no specialty games section on the menu, so games like keno and the Fish Catch skill game got lost.

And the only roulette game is not among Table Games; I found it by accident.

The games generally play well after they get going. I found getting them going to be a bit slow, sometimes more than two minutes.

Some of that may be attributable to my connection, so speed is a variable, especially in mobile play.

I signed in from two locations with my smartphone; one was fast-loading, and the other took more than three minutes to get a game up.

The Best Features

  • The site was established in 2002, so it has a long history of serving US players.
  • Easy navigation on mobile and desktop.
  • Solid technology and security protocols.
  • Reliable games from a top software provider.

CoolCat Casino Vs. Other Gambling Sites

Based on my gambling session and experience, CoolCat is among the lower echelon of online casinos I have played. Here’s how they compare to other sites.

ONLINE CASINO BONUS # OF GAMES Average RTP READ REVIEW START
WELCOME BONUS 200% Match + 50 Free Spins # OF GAMES 175 AVG RTP 95-98% Review PLAY NOW
WELCOME BONUS 500% up to $7,500 # OF GAMES 699 AVG RTP 95-98% Review PLAY NOW
WELCOME BONUS 125% up to $3,750 # OF GAMES 549 AVG RTP 95%-97% Review PLAY NOW

Player Protection

CoolCat Casino does not mention responsible gaming or problem gambling anywhere on the site, which is another mark against this online casino’s reputation.

Responsible gambling is an issue that the best casinos address in some way because the industry values transparency, fairness, and player protection.

That’s particularly the case in the US, where frequently changing state laws have brought more gamblers into the picture.

My Verdict

2.8/5

CoolCat Casino is an older casino that should build on a good reputation rather than battling a bad one.

But it doesn’t seem to have upped its game that much. I didn’t trust the information I got on bonus playthroughs, and even if I won and played them out, I wouldn’t be entirely sure about getting paid.

RealTime games are fun, and CoolCat is a good place to explore their library. But I can’t recommend putting a bunch of money in and getting any out without a hassle.
